New Zealand (post 2)

Now pictures from the three day visit to the west coast. We stopped in Greymouth the first night then drove north up the coast to Westport where we stayed the night in this wonderful hotel in Cape Fowlwind and ate at a really nice restaurant called Yellowhouse (owned by a woman from the US who makes everything from scratch... very refreshing). We then made our way back to Christchurch and unfortunately, while stopping to admire a nice suspension bridge, the starter for the car stopped working. Once we get the car running, we didn't stop again on the drive back to Christchurch (so no more scenic mountain pictures). Overall the trip was wonderful and I definitely look forward to going back (hopefully in warmer weather)!

Upon closer inspection, Punakiki also looks like the rocks of Chiricahua but more oblong. Were you allowed to walk amongst the rocks?

And yes, I've heard of the famous rock seals of New Zealand, camouflaged from all predators except possibly pesky geologists ;)

Hi Lacey. I really enjoyed your photos, especially of New Zealand. (I'm Rob Grimes' mom by the way.)His dad was working in New Zealand a few years ago and I got to go spend some time with him. We were mostly on the North Island, so our pictures don't match up, but it was good to see more of the South. (We went along the coast almost as far as Christ Church to go whale watching. Had a wonderful time!) Your pics make me want to go back and also see Israel some day...although the security walls and such sure make me sad. Sad also about your sister's kitten. I'm very fond of Rob's cat. Blessings, Betsy Grimes
